The Master of Architecture (Digital Media) and related Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate programs in Adelaide are intensive post-professional programs in architecture in the context of contemporary digital media, rather than one concentrating exclusively on the media itself. They have a broad agenda. An agenda of Inventive designing Design theory Globalisation and digital media Energy, sustainability and the ethics of building Learning through Exploiting the potential of digital representations Competitions Web design, animations, and virtual reality Masterclasses with award-winning architects Aims & objectives The Graduate Certificate in Architecture (Digital Media) is a semester-length program, the Graduate Diploma in Architecture (Digital Media) is a full-year program and the Master of Architecture (Digital Media) is a three semester program. All are designed to further educate practising architects and graduates from the Bachelor of Architecture Degree in the use of Digital media within design. Career & professional relevance The progarms are designed for applicants who already hold a professional degree in architecture (ie Bachelor of Architecture). The Masters award is an equivalent to the traditional post-professional Masters degree except that it assumes and explores a working environment dominated by Digital media. Through project work and related studies, student develop advanced skills in design and in responding to issues of sustainability and changing technology. By developing skills and understanding in the use of contemporary Digital media, the award will also help in finding work outside the architectural profession. Prerequisite qualifications Applicants will be graduates of the School's Ordinary or Honours Bachelor of Architecture or an equivalent degree from another University, subject to the approval of the School. Applicants with degrees from outside of the design fields may also apply for acceptance, and should contact the School Executive Officer for information about their own particular eligibility and application requirements. Students will not be granted advance standing in the Graduate Certificate in Architecture (Digital Media). Students who complete the Graduate Diploma in Architecture (Digital Media) who hold the Graduate Certificate in Architecture (Digital Media) will be required to surrender the Certificate upon receiving the Diploma. Students will not be granted advanced standing in the Master of Architecture (Digital Media) program. Students who complete the Master of Architecture (Digital Media), who hold the Graduate Diploma, will be required to surrender the Diploma upon receiving the Masters.
